Language Line Services Soon to Offer Antimicrobial, Dual-Handset Phones
For Hygienic Access to Interpreters in Over 170 Languages
Monterey, CA – (August 6, 2009) – Language Line Services, the leading interpretation and translation provider, has announced the development of an antimicrobial, dual-handset Language Line® Phone that is designed to reduce the growth of infection-causing microbes.
The new, patent pending Language Line® Phone has a built-in natural silver-based antimicrobial solution that provides continuous surface protection against microbes and an automatic level of cleanliness desired in healthcare and other settings.
“Thousands of medical institutions and healthcare providers rely on our over-the-phone interpretation services to communicate with their limited English speaking patients,” said Louis Provenzano, Language Line Services President and COO. “Our antimicrobial dual-handset phones are designed with them in mind, where patient safety and infection control are of the utmost concern.”
The Language Line® Phone has been used in thousands of healthcare organizations to facilitate three-way communications between medical providers, limited English proficient patients and medical interpreters since 2002. The phone allows patient and caregiver to each have a separate handset, safeguarding against contagions that can be spread through a single handset.
“Research shows that over 80 percent of infections are spread by touch, so by adding the antimicrobial treatment to the Language Line® Phone, we are providing greater protection for patients and providers alike,” added Provenzano.
Language Line® Phones are also used by governmental agencies, banks, retail chains, pharmacies and many other businesses where limited English speakers are serviced face-to-face.
Other phone features include a quick-dial button for interpreter access and pre-programmed account information to eliminate time delays associated with coded-access. The Language Line® Phone can be plugged into any analog phone jack and is also available for select digital phone networks.
More information about the new antimicrobial Language Line® Phones can be found at www.languageline.com/amphone.
The phones will be available November 1, 2009.
