LanguageLine’s Scott W. Klein Wins Prestigious American Business Award for Executive of the Year

MONTEREY, CA – November 6, 2018LanguageLine Solutions® President and Chief Executive Officer Scott W. Klein has won a prestigious American Business Award for Executive of the Year, the company announced. Also known as the Stevie Awards, the ABAs are considered to be the United States’ most esteemed business awards.

Klein took home a Stevie in the Business and Professional Services category, recognizing him for a year in which LanguageLine succeeded on numerous levels, including an effective response to the needs created by last year’s historic natural disasters.   

All organizations operating in the U.S. – large and small, public and private, for-profit and non-profit – were eligible to submit Stevie nominations in a wide range of categories. More than 3,700 nominations were reviewed in the two-month 2018 judging process.

Stevie judges were impressed by Klein’s leadership. One wrote, “Nature never waits. Klein was truly amazing with the tireless hours he and his team put in to help when communities needed them most.” Another said simply, “Scott Klein is to communication what butter is to bread.”

“Never in our company’s four-decade history had we experienced a sudden increase in demand like we did in 2017 as a result of four hurricanes and an earthquake,” Klein said. “Supporting relief efforts throughout North America posed an incredible challenge. Our entire team rose to the occasion.  I humbly accept this award on their behalf.   Never have I been more proud of our organization and what we do.”  

Klein, who joined LanguageLine in 2012, captained the business as it grew across all business lines in its first year as part of a publicly traded company. LanguageLine innovated through the launch of products that succinctly addressed customer needs. Most importantly, the company scaled to meet an unanticipated surge in customer demand that was the result of simultaneous natural disasters.

“There are two types of companies – those that change and those that go out of business,” Klein said. “Having had the opportunity to successfully lead change at LanguageLine Solutions has been both a privilege and an honor.”
