LanguageLine Solutions is proud to announce that it has been named Business of the Year by the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce (MPCC) at its 116th Annual Awards Dinner, held this week in Monterey. The event, which brings together civic, business, and community leaders, recognized individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the region.
The Business of the Year award is the evening’s top honor and was determined by a vote of MPCC members across all industries and categories.
“Attending the Chamber’s Annual Awards Dinner alongside our team was a meaningful experience, and we were genuinely surprised and humbled to be named Business of the Year by our fellow Chamber members,” LanguageLine President and CEO Simon Yoxon-Grant said.
“This recognition speaks to the extraordinary dedication of our entire organization, particularly our linguists, who work tirelessly to serve individuals with limited English proficiency during some of the most pivotal moments in their lives. I was proud to accept this award on behalf of every person at LanguageLine who makes our mission possible.”
LanguageLine has deep roots in the Monterey community.
“What began 42 years ago in the laundry room of a Monterey rental has grown into one of the county’s largest employers,” said Yoxon-Grant. “More importantly, it’s become a mission-driven organization dedicated to bridging language gaps and fostering understanding across the cultures.”
In 2024, LanguageLine also received the Chamber’s Business Excellence Award in the “Services to Businesses” category, following two rounds of voting by Chamber members and their constituents.
LanguageLine has played a vital role in reinforcing Monterey’s global reputation as the “Language Capital of the World.” Alongside institutions such as the Defense Language Institute, Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and the Naval Postgraduate School, LanguageLine has helped make Monterey a hub for language and cultural expertise.
With nearly 40,000 linguists, LanguageLine provides interpretation and translation in over 240 languages, handling more than 85 million interactions annually. The company serves clients in health care, financial services, government, education, technology, and many other sectors.
“Monterey has always stood for perseverance and community spirit,” Yoxon-Grant said. “Those values are woven into who we are at LanguageLine. Being honored by the very community that shaped us makes this recognition especially meaningful.”
